Hey there, friend. I'm Tessa.


I became a nurse to help people heal. Then I realized that true health — living fully, not just surviving — starts long before the doctor's office.

I'm a Registered Nurse (BSN, RN), Certified Health Coach, and 200-hr certified Yoga Teacher, with training in Functional Nursing and experience across the Emergency Room, Neuro ICU, and Employee Health. I'm currently pursuing my board certification as a Nurse Coach (NC-BC).

Over the years I've been honored with the DAISY Award, the "Good Catch" Award, and the "Act of Extraordinary" Award — but the work that lights me up most happens outside the hospital walls.

My wellness journey started in 2011 when I made the life-changing decision to get sober from alcohol. Sobriety was the catalyst that led me to yoga, clean nutrition, toxin reduction, and functional medicine.

But the path wasn't without challenges — chronic inflammation, pregnancy complications, 14-hour shifts in high-stress environments, and medical treatments that addressed my symptoms but never the root cause. Conventional medicine is a wonderful, life-saving thing. But it didn't have the answers I was looking for.

So I turned to a functional approach. And with time, I found the healing I had been searching for.

And then things changed

By addressing root causes instead of symptoms, I reclaimed my vitality, my energy, and my life. Now I get to experience that transformation every single day — and help others do the same.

I know how hard it is to navigate health struggles while juggling motherhood, work, and everything in between. I've been exhausted, dismissed, and searching for answers just like you. That lived experience is what drives everything I do at Root to Rise Wellness Collective — and it's why I show up for every client the way I wish someone had shown up for me.

My background is unique — and so is my approach. Here's what you won't find anywhere else:

1. A health coach who goes deeper

I'm a Certified Health Coach with a background as a Registered Nurse — and that combination changes everything. My years in the ER and Neuro ICU gave me a deep understanding of how the body works, but it's root-cause functional health coaching that lets me actually sit with you, dig into the why behind your symptoms, and help you build a path forward that a conventional approach rarely offers.

2. Strategies that fit your real life

No overwhelming protocols. No restrictive diets. No one-size-fits-all plans. I build sustainable, realistic strategies around your actual life — because real healing happens in real life, not in a perfect wellness bubble.

3. Yoga philosophy woven into everything 

Most health coaches don't also hold a 200-hr yoga certification. I do — and I use it. True yoga is far more than movement — it's a complete system for mind, body, and spirit that aligns deeply with functional health principles. I weave yoga philosophy, breathwork, and mindfulness into every coaching program to help regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and support your whole self — not just your symptoms.

4. Someone who has genuinely been there

I've navigated chronic illness, burnout, pregnancy complications, and the frustration of being dismissed by conventional medicine. I'm not coaching from a textbook — I'm coaching from lived experience. And that changes everything about how I show up for you.
